Cover Reveal! Tattoed Dots by Kimberly Knight

Hey everyone! Please help me celebrate the cover reveal for Author Kimberly Knight's book, Tattooed Dots.

Synopsis:

Tattooed Dots

Easton Crawford put his modeling career and good looks before his marriage until it was over. Years later, he is finally learning how to be the father his daughter needed him to be. He’s not looking for a new mom for his daughter—just nightly casual hook-ups. When his best friend, Avery, convinces him that a good way to meet a lot of single women is to go on a single’s cruise, Easton finds more than just a hook-up when he meets a fellow cruiser, Brooke.

Brooke Bradley has taken care of her younger sister, Bailee, for most of their lives. While their mother was enjoying not being a mother, Brooke became the adult in the household at thirteen. She had always taken care of the people in her life, especially her boyfriend, Jared. If it wasn’t for Brooke, Jared wouldn’t know how to function throughout the day.

When Brooke’s best friend, Nicole, gives her a gift of going on a cruise without telling her that it’s a single’s cruise, will Brooke find someone willing to be her constant and finally leave Jared?

Brooke and Easton learn that people are brought into their lives for many reasons. Over time, they find out what those reasons are. Some are to be a temporary acquaintance while others are there for life.

What will Easton do when he meets Brooke and realizes that she is someone that is meant to be in his life forever, especially after Brooke has an unexpected surgery and Easton is scared of losing her forever?

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

It's Domestic Violence Awareness Month and today I am helping Author Kristie Cook "Share the <3" by spreading awareness. Personal stories of domestic violence are everywhere, but here is one shared by the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

~ ~ ~

Sil Lai’s Story

Twenty years ago I was a young single mother and didn’t realize that I was embarking upon a new relationship that would nearly destroy my spirit.  I knew going into the relationship that my then boyfriend was controlling and prone to what I thought were temper tantrums. Like a lot of abused women, I thought that if I loved him enough that I could help him heal…to finally know unconditional love. He belittled me, called me names and cursed at me in a way that to this day makes me cringe at its cruelty.  He constantly accused me of cheating on him, and made me feel ashamed of who I was and the mistakes I had made in the past.  And, as is unfortunately all too often the case, he eventually began using physical violence as a means to try and break my spirit.
Our relationship was a crazy, unpredictable 4 1Ž2 years of soul crushing abuse.  I finally got out of the relationship after one too many trips to the emergency room – trips that finally broke through my denial about the true nature of the man I “loved,” our relationship, and especially myself.  Today I am grateful to be alive, to have two beautiful children who weren’t raised in a home filled with emotional, physical and mental violence and to have the opportunity to serve other women who are or have been abused.
However, there is one thing that still gets me from time to time, which is that it took me 4 1Ž2 years to break free from my abuser.  I remember being so desperate…so confused, and so needing of support.  If I had had access to an organization such as the National Domestic Violence Hotline back when I was being abused, I believe it is highly likely that I would’ve gotten out earlier.  The knowledgeable, empathetic support and vital resources they provide, 365 days a year are critical to helping a victim of abuse break free of the violence.  Victims may only reach out for help once. It is so essential that the hotline answer as many calls as possible so that every victim can become a survivor.
Services such as those offered by the National Domestic Violence Hotline are not optional…they are essential to the health of our families. The hotline arms victims with a truth that can eventually truly set them free.

This story is used with permission by the National Domestic Violence Hotline. It appears at http://www.thehotline.org/portfolio-item/francescas-story/If you or someone you know has questions about the health of their relationship, please call us at 1-800-799-SAFE(7233) or visit www.thehotline.org.

Share the Love for The Hotline - and Win!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Author Kristie Cook is asking us to "Share the <3"! 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men just in the United States have been victims of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime (Center for Disease Control statistics). You likely know someone who lives through this nightmare every day - a relative, a friend, a coworker or a neighbor down the street. Too many don't live. And too many children witness the violence to/between their parents - or are direct victims themselves.

Thankfully, help is available. Unfortunately, not enough people know whom they can call for help - safely and privately. The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides this kind of secure resource, helping survivors of abuse do what they need to do to reach safety and restart their lives. I, along with Kristie, many other authors, bloggers and readers, ask you to join us in supporting The Hotline so it may continue to provide the refuge people need. Help us "Share the <3" because "all <3's deserve to feel safe."

If you can donate even $5 to The Hotline, you could be supporting one phone call that can save a life. And for each dollar you donate, you can be entered to win Kristie's Share the <3 Giveaway! Simply email your receipt(s) dated 10/1/2013 through 10/31/2013 to publisher (at) angdora (dot) com. There are other ways to enter, as well, in the Rafflecopter below.

MY REVIEW:

I am so glad I had the chance to read this Amazing Children's Short Story! This Book was written so beautifully and imaginatively it brought tears to my eyes. It is about a little boy who had lost his Mother, and was getting ready to lose his Father as well. His teen-aged Sister and her boyfriend have to take over his care while his Father is sick. The great part about this is that the boy's Mother finds him in the form of a cloud during this time. The "cloud" is always comforting him and singing his favorite lullaby when he is sad or upset. The "cloud" also explains to him why his Father acts the way he does toward him. Which is because he looks like his Mother, who his Father misses terribly. To top it off, the Father is dying of a "broken heart"! At the end of this book, when the boy and his Father have their last talk, and it stops raining and the "cloud" shows up...well, lets just say it brought tears to my eyes!
This book would be a perfect read for a child who is dealing with loss, bless their hearts. But, it can be a great lesson for any child, really. You never know what could happen, unfortunately. I enjoyed reading this and do plan on reading it with my 3 older children as well (aged 6, 10, and 14). I highly recommend this to a child of any age, loss or no loss.
The best part about this, is an entire FIFTY PERCENT of the profits go to Winston's Wish-The Charity for Bereaved Children. That is a generous donation and such a great cause! Winston's Wish is a Registered Charity (England and Wales) 1061359, (Scotland) SC041140.
"Winston's Wish now in its 20th anniversary year helps children rebuild their lives after the death of a parent or sibling, enabling them to face the future with confidence and hope. We are the largest provider of childhood bereavement services in the UK and offer the widest range of practical support and guidance to children, families, professionals and anyone concerned about a bereaved child. We know from experience that the right support offered at the right time can have a life-changing impact on bereaved children and young people. Second, Hugo: A Quest for King Borin (The Hooded One, #1):

MY REVIEW:

This Children's book was such a treat!! This was not at all what I was expecting...in a good way! This was an awesome, fun story to read with my Son. It is full of so much adventure, imagination, and and humor it kept us highly entertained. The suspense was great and kept us wondering what would happen next.
It is set in Medieval times, full of Kings, Queens, Knights, but also mixed with Trolls, Goblins, elves, and all types of creatures. What starts out as a misunderstanding turns into a full-on war between King Borin and Queen Ennet. King Borin sends his bravest Knight, Hugo, on a Quest to the Queens land. Meanwhile, the Hooded One is planning a war of his own to take over the world. Along Hugo's quest he befriends some creatures and encounters many adventures. They even end up befriending a goblin who is supposed to be part of the Hooded One's army, but ran away, not wanting any part of his plan. After many an adventure they make it to the Queens land and just as everything gets sorted, The Hooded One and his army attack. After much suspense, they end up defeating him in a really cool way!
There are some really funny quotes that had us giggling like crazy! Some of our favorites were: "'He was only caught because of the smell! He needed to swim through the moat and, as you know Sire, that's where we dump our poo.'" and "You know when you fart in a jar and quickly put your nose to it? Well, that's what it smelled like in there, except far worse."!
To be honest, I could have read this myself and enjoyed it! It was just as fun and entertaining for me to read as it was for my Son! We are definitely excited for the next installment in this series. Author Tony Gilbert is preparing to start writing adult novels, and I can't wait to see what he will come up with!!
